Brussels South Charleroi Airport registered a total of 699,037 passengers in July. This represents an increase of 17% compared to the 595,903 passengers registered in the same month last year.
This significant growth is the result of the flight frequency increase on 24 destinations in July and August and of a higher load factor compared to the rest of the year. The 10 new destinations launched this summer (Chania, Corfou, Munich-Memmingen, Rodez, Turku, Warsaw Modlin, Alghero and Budapest (Ryanair), Nice and Palma de Mallorca (Jetairfly) also help to explain this monthly result.
The extra flights operated in the summer season are mostly scheduled during off-peak hours to fit into the airport’s strategy to focus on manageable growth established in 2011.
The airport estimates to welcome a similar amount of passengers in August. It is therefore recommended that passengers arrive at least 2 hours before the departure of their flight and that they respect the regulations for transportation of liquids.
